I’ve heard of another company that offers the same thing. Who should I choose?
When trusting someone to protect your furnishings, investigate the following: Do they offer a warranty and if so, have you seen it? How many years’ experience do they have? Do they mix their own formulas and have a complete understanding of the chemicals used? Do they have an imbedded knowledge about fabrics and textiles? We’ve manufactured and distributed our own products for over 25 years and offer a 3-year warranty certificate plus full back up service. Our roots are in the textiles industry and we’re able to offer insights to the treatment of all fabric variations.
Should I get those at-home treatments in a can?
We’d strongly recommend not to. At-home applications are generally not performed properly and the treatments don’t come with enough product to ensure an even and full coverage. Don’t risk ruining your household pieces. It’ll probably be too late to discover that something went wrong, and you may incur irreparable damage and stains. Choose safe, professional and long-lasting protection from Teknogard Plus instead.
How does Teknogard Plus work?
Untreated fabric acts like a sponge, quickly absorbing spills and leading to difficult and permanent stains. Teknogard Plus works like an invisible magic barrier that prevents liquids from seeping into the fabric. With Teknogard Plus treated material, the spill “beads” on the surface, allowing time to blot it up. The barrier protection stops the spill from being absorbed and spreading into the fibres.
What fabrics can Teknogard Plus be applied on?
Teknogard Plus can be applied to all fabrics, including silks, linen, blends and pretreated fabrics. Some fabrics may show different “beading effects” but the protection is guaranteed!
I’ve heard of Scotchgard. Is it the same as Teknogard Plus?
Teknogard Plus has been established since 1995 and is available throughout South Africa. It was developed because of the withdrawal of Scotchgard from the market in this industrial spray form.
Does application change the look of the furniture or fabric?
Teknogard Plus does not change the look or feel of the fibres on your furniture. Once Teknogard Plus has been applied, you will not be able to tell the difference between treated and untreated fabrics.
How long does the protection last?
Under normal conditions, Teknogard Plus should last between 3 to 6 professional cleans. Teknogard Plus will provide long-lasting protection and can be topped up by an applicator should the need arise over time.
Does Teknogard Plus harm the environment?
No. Teknogard Plus does not contain any chemicals that can harm the environment or the Ozone Layer. Safety for all is always our top priority!
Do items treated with Teknogard Plus need special care?
No special care is needed – just normal cleaning such as regular vacuuming and professional wet extraction cleaning.
Does Teknogard Plus have an odour?
Once applied and dried, Teknogard Plus has no scent.
Does Teknogard Plus come with a warranty?
Yes! Our Teknogard Plus treatments come with a 3 year warranty. T’s & C’s apply.
How long do I have to wait to be able to use my treated pieces?
Furniture requires approximately only one hour to dry after application!
How do I care for and maintain my Teknogard Plus treated items?
You can always contact us directly, prior to attending to any stain. Some other things to keep in mind:
- Vacuum regularly to prevent dirt being ground into the fibres.
- Blot and clean any spills or marks straight away. Use a dry cloth or paper towel.
- Some stains and spills may need repeated cleaning
- Do not rub vigorously as this may damage the fibres
- Do not use water or a damp cloth to remove the stain
- Severe stains may need to be professionally steam cleaned

I spilt something on Teknogard Plus treated furniture, now what?
Take a dry cloth and immediately blot up the liquid. On most fabric types, it should be sitting on top of the protective layer and just needs some simple blotting until all the spill is absorbed. Some fabrics do not bead but the protection is still guaranteed! Do not wet or rub the affected area.
